Go Karting & Axe Throwing, 4th Nov 2023
It took a while but we got there in the end... Totsa organised the event which was one of the very first suggestions we had when we first tabled the idea of doing something different every quarter. We had a great day, Go Karting and Axe Throwing in the TOON on Match day!
Picked up early and kindly dropped off in the town by Ally, although it was a bit of a squeeze in the back for 3 of the fat dads... Not because the car is small, but because of the size of the fat-dads.
We had two races planned at Newcastle's Team Sport EKarting on Scotswood Road.
They did a cracking breakfast butty to get us ready for the day end then we were ready to get kitted out with all the gear, racing overalls, balaclava, gloves and helmets.
Two races took place interrupted by a 20 minutes break which allowed us the opportunity to discuss tactics and strategies for the next race.
Difficult to tell us apart I know.. Totsa is the shortest one!
So, the first race was fairly gentle as we got used to the feel of the track and how the karts handled. There were definately a couple of ringers on track as a they kept flying past us. We raced with 10 other competitors.
Time for a 20 minute break in between races and opportunity to discuss tactics and strategies, all of which was pure bollox as it made no difference to our game.
The second race was brutal... Absolutely no polite driving here, but sheer agression. No rules followed, no worrying about contact or dangerous maneouvres. It was all out war.. Anyway, Nell first again, Tompa second, Steve 3rd and Totsa fourth. A cracking experience and we were all buzzing. Off for a couple of beers before doing the Axe Throwing.....
Having had a great time at the axe throwing, it was off to My Delhi on Clayton Street for some cracking Indian Street Food.
